CEDAR RAPIDS - A Fairfax man was killed early Wednesday after his vehicle rolled on Highway 30 and came to rest on its top in Morgan Creek, just west of Cedar Rapids.
Kevin Slater, 62, was westbound on Highway 30, east of Sisley Grove Road, when he lost control of the vehicle shortly before 3 a.m. amid heavy rainfall, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.
The vehicle flipped multiple times and rolled over a guardrail before landing in the creek. Slater was trapped in the vehicle and submerged in water, authorities said.
Emergency responders mechanically freed Slater, who later was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
