Iowa City police investigate shots fired on West Benton Street and Hollywood Boulevard in Iowa City

IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Police Department is investigating two incidents after receiving reports of shots fired on West Benton Street and Hollywood Boulevard on Friday night.
Around 8 p.m., police received 'multiple reports” of shots being fired in the 200 block of West Benton Street, according to a police media release.
Witnesses told police that the people involved in the shooting had left the area. Officers recovered shell casings and bullets.
A similar scene occurred almost four hours later, when at 11:28 p.m. police responded to the 1100 block of Hollywood Boulevard after reports of shots fired there. Again, the involved parties were gone before police arrived, and officers retrieved evidence, including shell casings.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. No injuries have been reported, and no arrests have been made.
Police are asking nearby residents with security cameras to review their recordings and contact Iowa City police at (319) 356-5276 with any potential footage or information.
