A 26-year-old Des Moines woman faces charges of vehicular homicide in connection with the 2018 crash that killed a 14-year-old riding a moped in Fayette County.
Kelli Jo Michael, 26, faces charges of vehicular homicide (reckless driving) and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Investigators spent two years on the case.
Kaiden Estling, of Maynard, was killed while driving his moped south on Highway 150 around 10 p.m. June 28. The moped was struck about 2.5 miles south of Fayette, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said.
Despite multiple lifesaving attempts, Estling died at the scene.
Michael made an initial appearance Friday in Fayette County District Court and was ordered held on a $50,000 cash-only bail.
