CORALVILLE - The Coralville Police Department has released the names of the two people found dead Tuesday evening at the Suburban Inn Extended Stay Hotel, but the cause of death has yet to be revealed. Police say that the cause of death at this time appears to be 'non-intentional.”
According to a release from the Coralville Police Department, officers were called to the Suburban Inn by hotel staff who discovered two dead bodies in one of the rooms. Officers responded to the call and confirmed the two individuals in the room were deceased before securing the area.
The two were identified as Penny L. Herman, 44, and John J. Tromba, 41, both of Port St. Lucie, Fla. Investigation into the background of the two indicates that they had been in Eastern Iowa for several months after coming for a local reconstruction project, according to the release.
The autopsy was completed on Wednesday, and no trauma was found on either person, according to the release. Police are awaiting toxicology results for a final determination of a cause of death from the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny, which could take several weeks.
When interviewed previously about the incident, Coralville Police Chief Barry Bedford said that even though investigators are taking their time determining the cause of death, there are no obvious signs of foul play.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office and the State Crime Lab are assisting the Coralville Police Department, according to the release.
