A press conference was scheduled Wednesday for members of the media with Yarrabee Farms to discuss the employment status of Cristhian Rivera. Rivera, 24, was charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday in the death of Mollie Tibbetts, a 20-year-old college student from Brooklyn, Iowa, who disappeared on the evening of July 18. Law enforcement found her body Tuesday in a rural Poweshiek County cornfield.
It has been reported that Rivera was able to work at Yarrabee Farms for four years after passing E-Verify 'a web-based system that allows enrolled employers to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.” This despite the fact that law enforcement have questioned if Rivera was in the country legally.
Meanwhile, Rivera's lawyer is arguing that Rivera was in the country legally.
