Iowa City man faces 3 felonies after stolen ATV, mountain bike, gun found in his possession

An Iowa City man faces multiple felony charges following a burglary and subsequent search of his residence, authorities say.

Lonnie Ray Clark, 33, is facing charges of third-degree burglary, trafficking in stolen weapons and first-degree theft.

According to a Johnson County Sheriff's Department news release, Clark and another person, who authorities did not identify, entered a parking garage on Highway 1 SW in Iowa City in a cargo van, prying open a door with a pry bar and triggering motion lights. Clark ran away but later returned with his face covered, and he removed a go-cart, mini sports bike and aluminum loading ramps, according to the release.

The owner of the garage reported the stolen items.

Deputies with a search warrant found multiple stolen items ad Clark's residence and a storage unit, including two mopeds, a green box trailer, an Arctic Cat ATV, a Stihl blower, a mountain bike, aluminum loading ramps and a handgun.

The 22-caliber handgun was previously reported stolen on Aug. 13, 2010, in Hardin County.

Two of the charges Clark is facing are Class D felonies. The charge of first-degree theft is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
