Motorcyclist sent to hospital with serious injuries after Tuesday crash

An 18-year-old motorcyclist is now in the hospital with serious injuries after losing control of her motorcycle and crashing. She was not wearing a helmet at the time.
According to a news release sent by the Linn County Sheriff's Office, emergency responders arrived at Covington Road and Vinton Street in Palo at 1:42 p.m. on Tuesday to find that motorcyclist Isabel Pounders of Tiffin had lost control of her motorcycle near the intersection and entered the south ditch.
She was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids for treatment of serious injuries.
According to the release, the crash remains under investigation with charges pending.
