Single car accident on Highway 30, driver strikes guardrails

At 6:30 a.m. today on Labor Day, authorities were called to the intersection of Highway 30 and Highway 13 for a single vehicle accident.
According to a release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Elizabeth Rose Nelson, 24 of Cedar Rapids was driving a gray Nissan Altima westbound on Highway 30 when she lost control of her vehicle, hitting guardrails.
Nelson was transported to a hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, and has been cited for failure to maintain control.
According to the report, she was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident, and the Linn County Deputies, Mount Vernon Fire Department, and Mount Vernon Albulance Service were the reporting departments.
