Arrest made in shots-fired incident near Mercer Park 15-year-old charged; Iowa City investigation continues

IOWA CITY - A 15-year-old boy has been charged with crimes connected with shots fired June 13 near Iowa City's Mercer Park.
The teen, arrested Thursday, was charged with reckless use of a firearm, an aggravated misdemeanor and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony, for the shots-fired incident in the 1200 block of Baker Street, according to an Iowa City police media release.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, including possible connections to other gunshot incidents that occurred the morning of June 17.
More charges and arrests are expected, police said.

The juvenile offender was not identified by police and, in most cases, The Gazette does not identify juveniles accused of crimes.
