Eloise Morse, 92, of Marion, formerly of North English and Manchester, died June 10, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, June 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Services will be Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m., with a visitation an hour before at North English Christian Church, with Pastor Luke Caster officiating. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.
Eloise was born the daughter of Clyde and Malinda (Dawson) Henson on Sept. 4, 1921, in Hayesville, Iowa. She was raised in North English and graduated from North English High School with the class of 1938.
Eloise was united in marriage to Dean LaVerne Morse on Oct. 12, 1939, in Sigourney. To this union were born two daughters, Jerilyn (Ronald) Hansen and Cheryl Stufflebeam, and a son, Kimball Don.
The couple resided in North English their entire married life. Eloise worked with Dean in their Western Auto Store and later at Casey's in North English.
After Dean's death in 1987, she moved to Manchester to be near her daughter, Cheryl, and resided there until 2006, when she moved to the Villages in Marion.
Eloise was a member of the North English Christian Church. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in North English and Manchester.
Eloise loved cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and over the years traveled to some bowl games with Dean. She worked crossword puzzles every day and watched her "soaps." She enjoyed the birthday parties at the Villages and had collected over 300 elephants.
Eloise is survived by her daughters, Jerilyn (Ronald) Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Cheryl Stufflebeam of Manchester; two grandchildren, Phillip (Connie) Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Deena (Todd) Smock of Oelwein; five great-grandchildren, Ashley (Jake) Marzen and Jacob Hansen of Cedar Rapids, Hunter, Cooper and Emma Smock of Oelwein; a sister-in-law, Helen Lease of Crawfordsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dean, in 1987; her son, Kim, in 1974; her sister, Dorothy Querl; and a grandson, Paul Hansen
Memorial donations may be directed to Camp Courageous, North English Christian Church and St. Luke's Hospice.
