LINN-MAR ABOUASSALY: Working today for tomorrow’s leaders

Pick up a newspaper, or turn on any news channel and you can quickly see that we are living in a time of uncertainty, a time where society is thirsting for leadership that is both substantive and effective. Leadership skills are often developed in our early years, are honed as we age, and certainly impact every facet of our lives as adults, parents and members of society. Our schools play a major role in creating the leaders of tomorrow and that is why I am running for the Linn-Mar School Board.
As a graduate of Linn-Mar High School, father of two Linn-Mar graduates and with a son currently enrolled at Linn-Mar High School, I have come to appreciate what a great school district can offer its student body and the community at large. I have firsthand experience in how those formative years can go a long way in preparing today's youth for their roles as they grow and become leaders in their own right. I have firsthand knowledge of how a great school experience can help shape an individual's views and impact their overall self-image.
It is our responsibility as leaders to guarantee that the students make the most of their time and experience at Linn-Mar.It is our responsibility as leaders, teachers and parents to make the student our priority.
My work experience has allowed me to be a leader of people, while managing strict budgets and delivering positive business results. The negotiation skills that I have honed over 28 years in the business world will certainly be of use if I am fortunate to serve on the Linn-Mar School Board.
If elected to serve, I am committed to keeping the students as the focus of every decision I make. A major strength of the Linn-Mar School District is its teachers, and I am committed to working with the leadership to ensure that our teachers have the support and resources they need to be effective and functional. I am committed to strategic planning, while keeping all options on the table until every last one is debated. Open dialogue and transparency are a must and will be key factors in ensuring a positive experience for all in the school district.
I would sincerely appreciate your support and most importantly your vote.
