Maintain city focus on core services

As a small-business owner, soon-to-be father and active volunteer, I have learned a lot about what makes Cedar Rapids a great place to live and where it could use improvements. I've been an active volunteer with the Wellington Heights Neighborhood Association, Boys and Girls Club, 6th Judicial District and many other organizations, and want to take these leadership roles to the next level and represent you on the council.

My focus on the council will be the core services that a city needs to provide. Our roads, police, fire, water/sewer and parks should all be top-notch. The streets were neglected for many years so there is work to be done to catch up. Also, there is a rift between part of the community and the police department. I've been working in Wellington Heights for several years to repair this relationship.

In addition, I want to make it easier for people to invest in this city. The current zoning code makes investment difficult for many homeowners and small businesses. I want to create synergy between the building department and the community so that people feel encouraged and supported when proposing a project.

I will be the voice of reason and prioritize things based on needs. I will fight for you and everyone else in this community to make sure the city provides the best services possible. Together we can build Cedar Rapids to be greater than it has ever been.
