Rosemary K. McAleer, 85, a resident of West Ridge Care Center, died there Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, after a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Christopher Podhajsky will officiate. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, south of Ryan. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary recited at 2 p.m. There also will be visitation at 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; her children, Timothy (Mary) of Fort Worth, Texas, Marjorie (Gene) Malloy of Lisle, Ill., Susan (Craig) Metzger of Phoenix, James (Diann) of Cedar Rapids, Richard of Naperville, Ill., Catherine (Robert) Digney of Cleveland, Ohio, Annette (Michael) Petersen of Papillion, Neb., and Thomas of San Francisco, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Father William Devine and Bernard Devine; a daughter, Mary Rita; and a grandson, Michael Petersen Jr.
Rosemary was born March 6, 1929, in Ryan, the daughter of William and Amelia Kirschbaum Devine. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School in Ryan in 1946 and was united in marriage to Robert J. McAleer on Nov. 20, 1948, in Ryan.
Rosemary was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cross stitching, playing cards, dancing, reading and especially time spent with her friends and beloved family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
The family would like to thank the staffs at West Ridge Care Center and Hospice of Mercy and all Rosemary's family and friends for their wonderful care and prayers.
Rosemary's family would also like to thank the Good Lord for blessing them with such a kind, faithful, caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
