Merle K. Zaruba, 88, of Marion, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, in Willow Gardens Care Center. Services: 3 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 15, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Carroll Brown. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Chapel of Memories.
Survivors include his children, John R. (Jeanne) Zaruba of Lone Tree, Marvin (Liz) Zaruba of Central City, Dennis (Terry) Zaruba of Marion, Sandy K. Wiggins of California, Rita A. (Herb) Drymon of Springville, Nadine L. (Michael) Tribble of Belgrade, Mont., and Sharon S. (Craig) Ramsey of Grinnell.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy M. Zaruba; and a sister, Maxine McCormick.
Merle was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Jones County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Edna (Grassfield) Zaruba. He married Dorothy Edleman on Oct. 12, 1946, in Jackson County, Iowa. Merle was employed with Cherry-Burrell and Banjo Refrigeration. Merle served in the Navy during World War II. He was a hardworking man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
