Shirley Ann Fetzer, 78, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction. Shirley was born Dec. 27, 1935, the daughter of Edgar and Lillie Hall Cobb. She lived in North English all of her life and graduated from North English High School in 1953. Shirley married Glenn Fetzer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on April 12, 1955. They later divorced.
Shirley started out farming, then worked at Sheller Globe/UTA for 21 years. She owned and operated the Duster for 10 years, worked at Ben Franklin for six years and at Roehr-kasse Meat Co. for five years.
Shirley loved being with her family and grandchildren and enjoyed playing Pepper and reading.
She is survived by a son, Terry Fetzer of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Debra (David) Boyd of Conesville; three grandchildren, Cody Boyd, Shania Boyd and Steven Fetzer; a brother, Don (Pam) Cobb of Kellogg; and two sisters, Kandy Cummins of Iowa City and Joan Vinton of Sanford, Maine.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dr. Steven Fetzer; and a brother, Samuel Cobb.
A Celebration of Life service will be 1 p.m. Sat-urday, July 19, at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 18, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for Shirley's family.
