Roger was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Charles and Bertha Meskimen. Bud served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. Following his military service, Bud was united in marriage to Rachel A. Yancey on Oct. 15, 1960. They bought a home in Hiawatha, where they raised four children. Bud was an active, outgoing man. In his early years he played baseball and softball. He liked playing horseshoes at family reunions. He taught his sons to hunt and fish.
Bud was a devoted husband to Rachel and a proud father and grandfather.
He and Rachel spent their last years reading, playing bingo and enjoying their children and grandchildren.
