Moody, 74, entered eternal rest at her rural farm home on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, with her loving
family at her side. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with the Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Interment will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery near Mount Auburn. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Karen was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Vinton, to William W. and Roma A. (Wiebold) Cole. She was baptized in 1939 and confirmed in 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone, by the Rev. A.H. Brauer. She moved with her parents south of Mount Auburn in 1954 and graduated from Washington High School in Vinton in 1957.
She was united in marriage to Larry J. Moody on Oct. 4, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton. For four years the couple made their home where Larry was stationed in the U.S. Navy and then returned to Benton County and the farm.
Karen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton.
She is survived by her husband, Larry of rural Mount Auburn; her children, Patrick (Leyla), Kent (Heather), Meegan Moody-Romero (Richard) and Ryan (Laura); her grandchildren, Cole and Danson, Sydney and Spencer, and Logan, Grant and Beau; her brother, Gene (Joyce) Cole; her in-law family, Don (Shirley) Moody, Judy, wife of the late Keith Moody, and Marcia (Dave) Hite.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
