Carol Lee Barkalow, 72, of North Liberty, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with visitation Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty.

Carol Lee Ambrose was born May 22, 1941, in Iowa City, daughter of Farrel "FL" and Claris (Moscow) Ambrose. She attended school at City High and worked many jobs throughout her life. She owned and operated Liberty Cleaning for many years.

North Liberty has been home for many years; she cherished her flowers, affectionately known as her "posies," bingo, and exploring yard sales.

Her family includes her children, Richard Ambrose of Illinois, Melissa Lesnet of Iowa City, Kris Irwin (Tim) of Wisconsin, Jon Barkalow (Joann) of North Liberty, Neil Barkalow (Renee) of Mount Vernon, Troy Barkalow of North Liberty, Tracy Bark-alow (Cassie) of Iowa City and Justin Barkalow (Nicole) of North Liberty; siblings, Rose Ambrose of Coralville, Harry Ambrose of North Liberty and Gerry Ambrose of Coralville; stepmother, Dorothy Ambrose; grandchildren, Megan, Ellie, Zariel, Scarlett, Sonny and Ava; and extended family members, Dianna Rath, Jackie, Melinda, Stanley, Chad and Misty Ambrose.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Farrel Ambrose Jr. (Peggy); and aunts, Marilyn Havel and Velma Roskup.
