Matthew Martin Langel, 34, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Manchester, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
He was born Nov. 12, 1979, in Manchester, the son of Duane Raymond and Bernice (Sperfslage) Langel. Matthew was raised and educated in the Delhi area and attended Maquoketa Valley schools.
Matthew was a drywall finisher in the Cedar Rapids area for over 15 years. He loved to golf and fish.
Survivors include his mother, Bernice Langel of Cedar Rapids; his father, Duane Langel of Delhi; one sister, Jeni Schwarzhoff (Kurt Bacon) of Coggon; one brother, Mark Langel (Amalia Ramirez) of Earlville; grandfather, Robert Sperfslage of Manchester; five nieces and nephews, Jason, Ellie and Katie Schwarzhoff; Mianna Gosche and Lucia Langel; and his special friend, Mary Parsons of Cedar Rapids.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Celestine Langel; and his maternal grandmother, Helen Sperfslage.
