Glenn Lambert, 93, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at First Presbyterian Church in Monticello. The Rev. Al Polito Jr. will officiate at the service. Military Honors will be accorded following the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Betty; five children, Stephen (Susan) Lambert, Marion, Janet (Leo) Ruddy, San Francisco, Calif., Linda Hicks, Cedar Falls, and Phil (Jackie) Lambert and Tom Lambert, both of Monticello; five grandchildren; and six great-grand-children.
Also surviving are Betty's four children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Juanita, on Dec. 13, 1981.
Glenn Robert Lambert was born Sept. 2, 1920, at the John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, the son of Ralph and Evaline Appleby Lambert. Glenn attended Monticello Community schools, graduating with the class of 1937. He then attended the Cedar Rapids School of Business.
Glenn worked for Link Belt Speeder in Cedar Rapids. He was an expediter in production from 1940 to 1941. Glenn and Juanita Shover were married July 17, 1941, at First Presbyterian Church, Monticello.
Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served on the hospital ship U.S.S. Haven. They made many trips to Hawaii from Japan after the atomic bomb was dropped in Nagasaki. Glenn served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946.
Glenn and his father owned and operated the Anchor Boat Co. from 1946 to 1949, then the Sno White Popcorn Co. In 1946, Glenn started Lambert Livestock, where his three sons joined him later, and was still an active participant until 1990. From 1960 to 1975, Glenn owned and operated the Monti Theater as well.
He served on the Jones County Fair board for 25 years. He also was a 50+ year member of Burns Masonic Lodge and a 65-year member of the American Legion.
Glenn married Betty Kreger on July 13, 1983. The couple spent 30 happy years together.
Glenn was very proud to attend the Monticello Alumni Banquet in May 2013 as a 76-year graduate. He was proud of his community of Monticello. His knowledge and history of it showed in his talks with other people.
