WILLIAM SCHICK
Cedar Rapids
William "Joe" Schick, died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the age of 61. Passing in the way he wanted, with contentment, his music and the antique model ships he loved to build.
Joe grew up and
attended school in Mechanicsville, Iowa, leaving in 1971, to join the Navy and becoming a Seabee. While in the Navy, he learned a trade which led him to become a well- sought-after welder and skilled craftsman. During his life he lived in Iowa, Minnesota, Utah and California, returning to Iowa.
Joe is survived by his mother, Betty (Fuller) Gage, of Aitkin, Minn.; his siblings, Susan (HD) Hegarty-Doyle, Des Moines, Mark (Mindy) Fuller, Mechanicsville, Carol (Mike) McWilliams, Aitkin, Minn., Jane and (Glenn) Howe, Bovey, Minn., and Ed (Kim) Fuller, Aitkin, Minn., and their families.
Joe had three children, Daphne, Joey and Jammy of the Rochester, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He also had a special relationship with his nieces, Brianna, Megan and Nicole Fuller and Lindsey Untiedt and family.
A memorial service is being planned at a later date in Mechanicsville.
Although Joe had his share of demons he did the best he could, within the last year of his life, he made many amends with his family, always saying goodbye with an "I love you." May he find peace at last.
