Nash, Colleen A.
Colleen A. Nash, 85, of Waukon, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Judy Scheer officiating. Burial will be at Glenwood South Cemetery, rural Decorah. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Colleen Anna Marie Nash was born on April 14, 1926, in Postville, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mary E. (Spiegler) Bulman. She was baptized on Jan. 5, 1927 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Waukon. She was confirmed at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Eitzen. Colleen grew up on a farm near Eitzen and graduated from Waukon High School in 1944. Colleen took normal training and taught two years at Jefferson School. On July 10, 1947, she married Robert J. Nash and reconfirmed in the Lutheran faith. She and her husband farmed in Allamakee County on the Old Stage Road. Colleen was active in the Glenwood Lutheran Church with Sunday and Bible School and the Ladies Aid. She was also a 4-H leader. Colleen enjoyed baking, sewing, reading, playing games and cards.
Survivors include her four daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Grinna of Redmond, Wash., Mary Jo (Dan) Shukers of Cedar Rapids, Debra (Daniel) Schatz of Twin Lakes, Minn., and Becky (Robert) Durst of Rapid City, S.D.; 10 grandchildren, Ericka and Tracy Grinna, Denise Ruggles, Chris Shukers, Crystal and James Schatz, Carl (Bri) Schatz, Greg (Katherine) Durst, Michael (Katie) Durst and Jonny Durst; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle and Brooke Ruggles, Megan and Jessica Shukers, Nathanial and Cody Shukers and Evelyn Durst; two brothers, Gary (Alice) Bulman of Lansing, and Barton (Lotus) Bulman of Caledonia, Minn.; and a sister, Betty Snitker of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert on Nov. 19, 1999; and a brother-in-law, Jim Snitker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Evergreen Court or Glenwood Lutheran Church.
