Stoeffler, Ivanelle Cecelia (Gassman)
Ivanelle Cecelia (Gassman) Stoeffler, 85, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Guttenberg, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Manor Care Health Services in Cedar Rapids.
She was born the daughter of Fred Sr. and Dolly (Carrier) Gassman on Aug. 20, 1926, in Dubuque Iowa. Ivanelle received her education in the Dubuque Community. On Nov. 27, 1947, she was married to Donald Stoeffler at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg. This union blessed them with three daughters. Together they raised their family in Guttenberg, until they moved to Postville and later Castalia. For the last 10 years, Ivanelle lived back in Guttenberg until moving closer to her daughters in Cedar Rapids this summer.
Over the years Ivanelle was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed baking, crafts, spending time at the slot machines at the casino and spending time with her family. She and a group of ladies would get together at City Hall in Guttenberg and play euchre. They also shared their card game with the residents at the Guttenberg Care Center.
Ivanelle will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Suzette (Gerald) Bower and Ivy (Brian) Heins, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jerry, Terry, Wendy, Michael and Nick; two great-grandchildren, Max and Sam; siblings, Delores Gordon, Shirley Plagman, Sue (Keith) Sauegling and Anna Mae Hamann; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Connie Esser; three sons in infancy; and five siblings, Rosemary Radtke, Vonnie Jelinek, Peter Gassman, Paul Gassman and Butch Gasman.
Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 207 S. First, Guttenberg, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, and one hour before service at church. Funeral service will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg, at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, The Rev. Marvin Bries officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Guttenberg.
