Hill, Elizabeth 'Betty'
Elizabeth “Betty” Hill, 86, of the Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Keene, N.H., died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 in her home. No services will be held. Her body has been cremated.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Ann) Bedaw of West Swanzey, N.H., Susan (Marvin) Schmitt of Solon, and Mark (Karen) Stone of Rowley, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, and her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Hill.
Betty was born in Lancaster, Mass., in 1925 and lived in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire for most of her life. She worked for many years at W.W. Cross in Jaffrey. She moved to Iowa in 2009 to be closer to her daughter and made her home at Meth-Wick Community, until her death. Betty is remembered fondly by many as a straightforward, kindhearted woman with a great sense of humor. She was a great mom and “Grammie.” She will be missed by her family and her many friends in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Memorial donations should be made to Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, or the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance Service in Jaffrey, N.H.
The family wishes to thank all the staff and residents at Meth-Wick for making Betty feel welcome. We are especially grateful for the nurses and aides in Custom Care for their exemplary care at the end of her life.
