Schmall, June Adel
June Adel Schmall, 82, Keystone Place, 6126 Rockwell Dr. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, by Father John Gossman. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, with a rosary service beginning at 4 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. Burial: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockwell, Iowa.
Survivors include 11 children, Mike (Jill) Schmall of Columbus, Ohio, Teri (Roy) Jones of Henderson, Nev., Mary (Jerry) Theilen of Mason City, Rose (Pat) Donnelly of Robins, Joanne Schmall of Phoenix, Ariz., Joe (Barb) Schmall of Robins, Kathy (Dan) Russell of Sanford, Fla., Steve (Kelly) Schmall of Asbury, Tom (Sandy) Schmall of Chanhassen, Minn., Bob (Jan) Schmall of Cedar Rapids, and Mark (Michelle) Schmall of Silverdale, Wash.; 32 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jack (Diane) Angle, Bev Peplinski, Kate (Ed) Osborne, Pat (Keith) Cousins and Janice Schnieder.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Maxine Hopson; and a grandson.
June was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Algona, Iowa, the daughter of Clayton F. and Esta T. (Wieland) Angle. She graduated from Swea City High School, Swea City, Iowa, in 1946 and attended Mankato State University. On Aug. 29, 1949, June was united in marriage to Leo Michael Schmall at Ledyard, Iowa. Leo died April 27, 2008.
June was a devoted wife and mother who had immense love for her family. She was actively involved with many church activities and enjoyed giving her time and talent. She will be greatly missed by family and friends who she touched with her kind heart.
