Pike, Donald R.
Donald R. Pike, 90, a resident of West Ridge Care Center, died there Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Faith & Life, by the Rev. Perry Fruhling. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his children, Robert D. Pike (Janet L.) of Longs, S.C., Kris A. Ruprecht (Henry) of Swisher and Craig A. Pike (Barbara) of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Richard W. Pike (Maxine) of Stevens Point, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Irene Rogness of Ossian; grandchildren, Kathy Marsh (Tony) of Southaven, Miss., Jessica Murphy (Christopher) of Greensboro, N.C., Brian Pike (Tara) of Aberdeen, N.C., Henry J. Von Ruprecht (Rebecca) of Iowa City, Holly Sojka (Jason) of Cedar Rapids and Jonathan Pike of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys Pike; nephew, Ryan Rogness; and grandson, Andrew Pike.
Donald was born May 2, 1919, in Springvalley, Wis., the son of Theron and Fern Herriott Pike. He married Gladys Arlene Hansen on Dec. 13, 1944, in St. Louis, Mo. Donald was employed at Penford Products for 28 years and was a member of St. Mark's Faith & Life since 1972. He served in the Army during World War II and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor.
His family was very important to him as well as his friends, neighbors and the patio pals. Donald was an avid Chicago Cubs and Hawkeye fan and attended the Outback Bowl in 2009.
