Roby, Mary A.
Mary A. Roby, 50, of 143 37th St. NE, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital after a sudden illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William Perkins will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include her husband, William; two daughters, Tashae Bell of Waterloo and Samella Lee of Cedar Rapids; a son, Dontavious Bell of Waterloo; her mother, Catherine Mickens of Waterloo; three brothers, Eddie (Karlene) Ayers of Cedar Rapids, Cleveland White of Cedar Rapids and Jesse (Sally) Boyd of Minneapolis; four sisters, Dorothy Mayo, Lena (Terry) Phillips and Kim Boyd, all of Waterloo, and Lucille Montgomery of Atlanta, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mary was born March 27, 1959, in Waterloo, the daughter of Kermit and Catherine Walton Boyd. She married William E. Roby on May 31, 2003, in Cedar Rapids. Mary worked in customer service at Wal-Mart for more than eight years. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, did volunteer work through the community and especially enjoyed time spent with friends and her beloved family.
Mary was an inspiration to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial fund has been established in Mary's name.
