Brickley, Lloyd
Lloyd Brickley, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. Services will be 10:30 Monday at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. The Rev. John Keiser will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving are his wife, Doris; son, Eric of Anamosa; grandchildren, Jill (Brad) Heims of Monticello and Jeff (Beth) Brickley of Livingston, Ky.; six great-grandchildren, Baylie, Jake, Jarod and Brandie Heims, Sam and Caroline Brickley; and brothers and sister, Bud, Dick (Florence) and Rosalie Shada, all of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
Lloyd Alvin Brickley was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Delbert and Blanche Merritt Brickley. He was a 1941 graduate of Anamosa High School. Lloyd attended Drake University and Iowa State before going to war in the Army for almost four years. He flew 24 combat missions over Germany as a B-17 gunner. Shortly after being discharged Lloyd attended Reppert's School of Auctioneering in Decatur, Ind. On March 4, 1944, Lloyd and Doris Larson were united in marriage at the Methodist church in Martelle. Lloyd ran the Anamosa Livestock Auction with his father. He also ran Brickley Livestock and raised cattle. He was a past president of the Rotary Club, past member of the Flying Farmers Club and was inducted to the Jones County Cattleman's Hall of fame.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Above & Beyond Hospice, United Methodist Church in Anamosa or donor's choice.
