Meade, Ragine
Ragine Meade, 75, of Walker, died of lymphoma on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker by Father David Ambrosy and Father Paul McManus. Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Walker, where a prayer service begins at 7 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.
Ragine is survived by her husband of 54 years, Raymond; her children, Mary (Jeff) Webb of Hiawatha and Patrick (Dana) Meade of San Francisco; her former daughter-in-law, Patti (Doug) Horton of Cedar Rapids; and five grandchildren, Whitney Webb of San Francisco, Lindsay Meade of Cedar Rapids, and Katherine, Nicholas and Josephine Meade of San Francisco.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Daniel Meade; grandson, Andrew Webb; and brother, Jack Orf.
Ragine was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Watkins, the daughter of Raymond and Lellis Orf. She married Raymond Meade on June 7, 1955, in Newhall. Ragine worked at Peoples Bank, Walker State Bank, Brenton Bank and North Linn Community Schools, retiring in 1996.
She loved bringing her family together and gathering everyone around the table for holiday meals. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, loved reading and attending ceramics classes. Her greatest passion was playing the organ, both at church and at home. She leaves behind a huge number of friends and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Food Bank.
