George Thomas Connelly, 95, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died peacefully Friday, May 23, 2014, at Parkview Manor in Wellman, following a lengthy
illness. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Church of the Nativity in Dubuque, with Father Scott Bullock officiating. Calling hours will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Prayer services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family also will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nativity. Interment with military honors will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated for Iowa City Hospice or the Hospice of the donor's choice.

George worked as a firefighter of the city of Dubuque for 38 years, until his retirement in 1979. He was a veteran of World War II, serving honorably in the United States Army.
He is survived by son, Michael Connelly of Washington,
Iowa; son, Thomas Connelly and wife Cathy of Coralville; three grandchildren, Christopher Connelly, Steven Connelly and friend Vanessa Kinsley, and Rebecca Connelly; and two great-grandsons, Brett and
Bryan Connelly.
He is also survived by a number of nieces and
nephews.
