Alatalo, Dorane L.
Dorane L. Alatalo, 88, of Evergreen Estates, died there Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, after a short illness. Graveside services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include a son, Donald (Connie) of Cedar Rapids; and a daughter, Cathy (Joey) Welton of Robins. She is also survived by six grandchildren, David, Richard, William, Brian, Brad and Leslie; and nine great-grandchildren, Rich, Tom, John, Mark, Crystal, Cassondra, Dylan, Hudson and Greyson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Richard; and two sisters, Cleo and Lois.
Dorane was born March 13, 1921, in Frederick, S.D., the daughter of Glenn and Armeline Tatro Durkee. She married Raymond J. Alatalo there on Feb. 9, 1940. He died in 2007. Dorane worked at Mercy Medical Center and later Collins Radio for several years. She enjoyed embroidery, cooking and especially time spent with her friends and beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to Mercy Hospice in Dorane's name.
