McQuillen, Sylvia Iona
Sylvia Iona McQuillen, 89, of 500 Mulberry St., Tipton, died of natural causes Aug. 15, 2009, at home. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, where visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial: Rochester Cemetery, Tipton. The Rev. Ron Lashmit will officiate.
Survivors include two daughters, Twyla Formoso of Lebanon, Ill., and Aloha McQuillen of Tipton; a son, Norman (Gloria) McQuillen of Tipton; her caregiver, James Webster of Tipton; four grandchildren, Anthony, Amanda, Ryan and Amber; and her dog, Joey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Norman, on March 5, 2008; a brother, James Morgan; and seven sisters, Elsie Lang, Viola Albin, Ruby Christian, Ruth Motz, Orpah Maurer, Margaret Pierce and Dorothy Morgan.
Born April 13, 1920, in Nichols, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred A. and Lillian Jane (Burr) Morgan, she married Norman Forest McQuillen on Oct. 1, 1943, in Bettendorf. Sylvia was a homemaker, mother and military wife for 27 years. She attended Rochester and West Branch schools and was of the Methodist faith.
A memorial has been established.
