Krall, William J.
William J. Krall, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at his home in West Branch.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Bernadette Catholic Church in West Branch. A Christian Wake Service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch, with visitation to be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the West Branch Cemetery.
Bill was born March 5, 1937, in Iowa City, the son of Ralph and Beulah Michel Krall. He was a graduate of City High School in Iowa City in 1955. On Jan. 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to the former Rita Becicka in Iowa City. He had been employed with Cargill in West Branch for many years, retiring in 1999.
He had served in the Army National Guard.
He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in West Branch, West Branch American Legion, Classy Chassis Cruisers and Iowa City Moose Lodge. He was a past West Branch City Council member and a retired West Branch Fire Department member.
Survivors include his wife Rita of West Branch; one son, Jeff (Lisa) Krall of Iowa City; three daughters, Mary (Dean) Gates of Atalissa, Kerry Jones of West Branch and Sara Krall of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Patrick (Bobby Jo) Gates, Brant (Tarah) Gates, Jerad Krall, Ryan Krall and Cade Jones; five great-grandchildren, Kobe, Cooper, Keaton, Cole and Clayton; and a sister, Sharon (Gary) Hunter of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Chad Gates.
