Garringer, Vernon E.
Vernon E. Garringer, 82, of Montezuma, formerly of Parnell, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at the Mayflower Home, Grinnell. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, First United Methodist Church, Marengo, with the Rev. Ben Wilson officiating. Interment: Yankee Point Cemetery, Parnell, with military honors. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
A memorial fund has been established.
Vernon is survived by a son, Scott Vernon Garringer (Pamela) of Hope, Ark.; two daughters, Barbara Jean Weldon (David) of Parnell, and Sandra Kay Maddocks (James) of Montezuma; eight grandchildren, Jamie Thompson, Cary Dischler, Jon Werner, Kennon Harter, Tonch Weldon, Ginger Russel, Crystal Wolf and Michael Garringer; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers, James C. Garringer (Jeanne) and William L. Garringer (Darlyn), all of Williamsburg; and a sister, Betty Van Dee of Vining.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990, his parents, and four brothers, Howard Brown and Keith, Orville and Ralph Garringer.
