Lint, Everett D.
Everett D. Lint, 71, of Lansing, formerly of Ely, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at his home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 6, 1939, in Shellsburg, Iowa, to Earl and Beulah Greenwood Lint. On Feb. 2, 1963, he married Margaret (Peggy) Alene Tow in Marion. Everett served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He farmed for years in Linn County and was employed by the Postal Service for many years, before retiring in 2001. He and Peggy then moved to Lansing where Everett built a log home and fished the Mississippi River dry.
Everett was an avid fisherman and loved all forms of wildlife. Among his family, he was known as a world class fishing and river guide. He will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him, particularly his family, who lovingly knew him as “Papa.”
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Lansing; his children, Tammy (Ron) of Ely, Jessica (Marty) of Solon, and Jodie (Terry) of Lansing; his grandchildren, Nicole, Hallie, Katelyn and Cash; and a sister, Kathryn (Charles) Vanderpool of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
There will be no services, but a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
Any memorials are requested to be sent to 1658 Lansing Harpers Rd., Lansing, IA 52151.
A special thank you to Hospice Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin for all of your support.
The Thornburg-DeVries Funeral Home of Lansing was in charge of arrangements.
