Lois Y. Wade, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Willy Mafuta. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at the funeral home, where a service will be held at 5:30 p.m. by the Fairest Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Silver Creek Cemetery near Masonville.
Survivors include her children, Gary I. (Sharon) Wade of Ames and Gail Jacobson of Cedar Rapids; her; four grandchildren, Kira (Eric) Houge of Tallahassee, Fla., Corey Jacobson of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Dane Jacobson of Milwaukee, Wis., and Alyssa Jacobson of Coralville; two great-granddaughters, Chloe and Maddie Houge; siblings, Beverly (Don) Trumbull of Cedar Rapids, Kenneth (Pat) Topping of Cedar Rapids and Robert Topping of La Mesa, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; companion, Francis Pint; two brothers, Francis and Darwin; two sisters, Pauline and Twyla; and son-in-law, Allan Jacobson.
Born Sept. 18, 1930, in Delaware County, Lois was the daughter of LaVerle and Iva (Kemp) Topping. On Dec. 24, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Wade in Manchester. He died Feb. 8, 1971.
Lois was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and employed at Rockwell Collins for many years. She was a 59-year member of Fairest Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Fairfax.
Lois was an avid traveler and dancer. Her family will miss her lemon meringue and sour cream and raisin pies, but will especially miss her.
A memorial fund has been established in Lois' memory.
