Leuenberger, Rick D.
Rick D. Leuenberger, 51, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Aug. 28, 2010, in his home, with his family, following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Christine Wagner-Hecht, chaplain with Hospice of Mercy, will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa; daughters, Heather Parbs and husband Mike of Center Point, and their son, Caleb, and Chelsea Leuenberger of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Jeri Vernon of Dubuque; his brother, Robert Leuenberger and wife Maureen of Cedar Rapids; as well as several extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
Rick Donald Leuenberger was born Aug. 16, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donald D. and Jereldine R. (Carroll) Leuenberger. He was united in marriage to Teresa Miller on June 7, 1986, in Cedar Rapids. They were blessed with two daughters. He had been employed with General Mills since 1979 as a mix process operator, as well as owned and operated Rick's Lawn and Leaf lawn care business. He also served honorably as a Linn County Sheriff's Reserve Officer for 23 years.
Rick had a great love of being outdoors, especially hunting, yard work and landscaping.
He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Rick's honor.
