Swallom, Scott Alan
Scott Alan Swallom, 42, of Vinton, Iowa, was tragically killed in a head-on crash Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home, with military honors by the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Laura; three children, Kyle, Christopher and Holly; son-in-law, Jon; his mother, Linda Fritz; stepfather, Marty; sister, Dana (Scott) Blauer; stepsister, Tammy Fritz; two stepbrothers, Martin Fritz Jr. and Mark Fritz; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Scott was born Dec. 27, 1967, to Linda (King) and Ralph Swallom. On May 24, 1986, Scott was united in marriage to Laura Benfield. He enjoyed his job as a bail bondsman and bounty hunter.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edward Swallom; grandparents, Myrle and Charles King, Virgel and Melsena Fritz and Alberta and Clyde Traw; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Scott was in the National Guard. He was a prankster and will be greatly missed.
Scott enjoyed family and friends, cards, playing games, fishing camping and most of all racing hobby stock and sport mods. He always said he felt the best on dirt tracks.
