Rogusky, Susan
A memorial reception to celebrate the life of Susan Rogusky will be held Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Northridge Park Pavilion, 2250 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Susan died Nov. 1.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of the Center (Senior Center), 28 S. Linn St., Iowa City, IA 52240 or City of Iowa City Summer of the Arts, Box 3128, Iowa City, IA 52244-3128.
Susan was born Sept. 23, 1952, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Mary Louise (Meyer) Rogusky. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Springfield and received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Wright State University.
Before retirement in April, Susan had been the volunteer coordinator at the Iowa City Senior Center for 24 years. Earlier in her career, Susan was employed as a social worker with the Davenport, Iowa Police Department and The Salvation Army.
Susan served on the board of the Iowa City Summer of the Arts. She was a dedicated volunteer at many community events, including the Iowa City Arts Fest, Jazz Fest, Sand in the City and the Hospice Road Race.
Even with her struggles in recent years, Susan found the strength and compassion to help others and serve her community. She will always be remembered for how many lives she influenced and touched.
Susan is survived her two daughters, Shanti Sellz of Tucson, Ariz., and Anikka Sellz of New York, N.Y.; her siblings, Mary Margaret “Peggy” (John) Derr, Theresa (Steve) Parham and Dan Rogusky, all of Springfield, Ohio; her former spouse, Michael Sellz of Iowa City; her beloved pets, Izzy, Henry, Bella and Abie; and her extended family of close friends. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
