Overstake, Christene

CEDAR RAPIDS - Christene Overstake, 51, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, Marshalltown. Burial will follow in the LeGrand Friends Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.

Born Oct. 5, 1958, she was the daughter of Joe and Betty (Halverson) Overstake. She graduated from the LDF High School in 1977. Christene worked as a dental tech for Dr. Blaha in Marshalltown, and later moved to Louisiana. She was employed at the Lil' Drug Store warehouse. She enjoyed being with family and friends. She recently returned to Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are her children, Jessica, Jenny and Joey; her best friend and companion, Jerry Platner; her parents, Joe and Betty Overstake of LeGrand; brothers, Ricky (Deborah), and their daughters, Deidra, Dawn, Diana, Denise and Dana, all of Marshalltown, David (Tammy), and their son, Josh, of Marshalltown, and Stan (Elizabeth), and children, Hannah and Connor, all of Marshalltown, and Jerry (Lynn) of LeGrand; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In death, she was rejoined with her grandparents, Clarence and Maude Overstake and Elmer and Etta Halverson.
