Brockhohn, Maria
CEDAR RAPIDS - Maria Brockhohn, 85, of Living Center East, died there Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, after a short illness. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Per Maria's wishes there will be no visitation. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Betty (Jim) White of Cedar Rapids and Arva Brockhohn of Springville; brother-in-law, Lawrence Brockhohn of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Maria was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Waczk, Poland, the daughter of Karl and Friedel Klaus Schapulska. She married Louis Brockhohn on May 16, 1946, in Germany and later that year came to the United States and became an American citizen. Louis died in 1980. Maria was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, especially the fishing trips she and Louis took throughout the United States as well as Canada.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Maria's name.
