Eakes, Priscilla D.
WEST BRANCH - Priscilla D. Eakes, 84, of 602 E. Main St., West Branch, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Mercy Iowa City. Priscilla chose to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City on Friday at 2 p.m. The family will greet friends Friday from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

Priscilla was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Iowa City, the daughter of Everett and Margaret (Teller) Klumforth. Raised in Iowa City, Priscilla married Glenn P. Eakes on Nov. 29, 1942, in Tipton. Priscilla was a certified food service worker with the Iowa City Community School District at Iowa City West High School for 16 years, retiring in 1989. She was an avid Hawkeye fan with Hawkeye football being her passion.
She is survived by her children, Glenn A. Eakes (Angie) of Bettendorf, Mark Eakes (Cheryl) of Iowa City, Diana Eakes of Iowa City, Dale Eakes of West Liberty and Karen Murphy of West Branch; grandchildren, Trisha, Kevin, Jacob, Matthew, Mandy, Jamie, Ryan and Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Adam, Brayden, Ariana and Ava; sisters, Frances Smith of Brookfield, Fla., Patricia Holderness of Cedar Rapids and Ione Allen of Bolivar, Mo.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Shirley McAtee and Marguerite Eakes.
