CARMA HON
Marion
Carma M. Hon, 73, of Marion, formerly of Manchester, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a heart attack. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Manchester Gospel Hall. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Manchester, and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the hall. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Masonville.
Carma was born April 1, 1941, the daughter of Donald and Clara (Ehne) Smith in Manchester. She graduated from Man-chester High School in 1959. She was united in marriage to Ronald H. Hon on June 11, 1960.
She worked for F & M Bank in Manchester until her first son was born. She was a hardworking, faithful homemaker and farm wife for many years. In later years, when they quit farming, she worked for Regional Medical Center in Manchester for six years until she retired in 2005. She later moved to Marion to be close to her daughter as she had some health issues.
Carma trusted the Lord as her Savior on Feb. 11, 1975, through the words of the hymn, "Jesus Paid It All." She was in fellowship with the Christians at the Manchester Gospel Hall until moving to Marion. She then was in fellowship with the Christians at the Marion Gospel Hall.
Carma will be remem-bered for her neverending sacrifices to others. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren immensely – the countless phone conversations, the many stops and visits, the hugs and kisses and all the holiday get-togethers.
She also had a love of gardening, as most knew from her large garden she always had, and the single tomato plant and flowers she enjoyed in her later years upon moving to Marion.
Carma is survived by her three children, Larry (Donna) Hon of Man-chester, Kenneth Hon of Dyersville and Deanna (Seth) Collins of Marion; 11 grandchildren; and one brother, Eric (Sheila) Smith of Manchester.
Carma was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald H. Hon, in 2005; her father and mother, Donald and Clara Smith; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hugh and Garnet Hon; and one brother, Dennis Smith.
