Sandra "Sam" Kay Van Lancker, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at her home. A
memorial visitation will be at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, on Friday, Aug. 29, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., with fellowship at VFW Post 788 to follow.
Survivors include her husband, Larry, of Cedar Rapids; two stepchildren, Eric (Tanya) Van Lancker of Clinton and Tina Van Lancker of Omaha, Neb.; two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Jackson; twin granddaughters, Olivia and Carol; special friend, LaVonne "Trix" Chamnes of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Judy, Muriel and her twin, Linda.
Sam was born June 13, 1946, in Ames, Iowa, daughter of Wallace and Ione (Godfrey) Gray. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School in Marion and from Kirkwood Community College at age 50. Sam had worked as an administrative assistant. On July 24, 1979, she married Larry Charles Van Lancker in Carson City, Nev.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Veterans Food Pantry.
