Robert E. Mittan, 72, of Marshalltown, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors.
Robert Eugene Mittan was born May 21, 1942, to Fred and Goldie Yerington Mittan in Cedar Rapids. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Lidia G. Salgado, Marilyn Ohmstead and Veronica Bass. They later divorced.
Survivors include his children, Gene (Maria Magdalena) Mittan of Bolingbrook, Ill., Michelle (Earl) Kern of Des Moines, Robin Mittan of Chicago, Scott (Jennifer) Mittan, Jason (Amber) Mittan and Angela Mittan, all of Cedar Rapids, and Shane (Rae) Mittan of East Moline, Ill.; siblings, Robert E. Mittan, Fred (Judith) Mittan, Sharon Ludwick and Eva (Elmer) Wright-Hessenius of Cedar Rapids and Larry (Judy) Mittan of Florida; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Veronica Bass.
