Johanna E. (Prescott) Weidenhamer, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, following a short illness. A Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 125, 5101 J St. SW. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Johanna was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Johanna Prescott. She married David L. Weidenhamer on Oct. 19, 1957, in Sioux City. David and Johanna celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary in October 2007.
Johanna is survived by her daughter, Regina "Jeanne" Moneypenny (Martin Smith); son, Colin Weidenhamer; four grandchildren, Rikki (Todd) Hosek, Randi Drahovzal (Matt Kitchens) and Austin and Mason Weidenhamer; great-grandchildren, Reese, Zoey, Shayne and Kaden; brothers, John (Amy) Prescott, Robert (Linda) Prescott and Tom (Oriene) Prescott; sisters, Janice (John) Culver and Barbara (Tony) Dunlevy; sister-in-law, Nance; two brothers-in-law and their spouses; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, William, an infant sister, a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law and two nephews.
Johanna worked for 10 years at the 5 C's Daycare. After her retirement her main priority was being a caregiver to all of her family and friends.
She enjoyed crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.
Memorials may be given to Care Initiatives Hospice, American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center and the staff and friends of Care Initiatives Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
