Charles A. Guthrie, 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at his home of cancer. The Celebration of the Life of Charles A. Guthrie will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the African American Museum of
Iowa in the Adrian Davis Celebration Hall. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; three sons, Shawn Leonard, Jeremy and Anthony Polson; two daughters, Chante Barnes of Cedar Rapids and Amber Polson of Des Moines; two brothers, Frank and Robert; and four sisters, Carolyn, Regina, Trudy and Arnell, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy; and two sisters, Pricilla and Donna.
Charles was born Feb. 5, 1954, in Marshalltown, the son of Willie and Mildred Guthrie. He married Edith Barragan on July 9, 2012, in Iowa City.
Charles worked for Car City and most recently for ABC Transport. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially time spent with his many friends and beloved family.
He will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established.
