Lois A. Voelkers, 87, a resident of The Meth-Wick Community, died there Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. John R. Flaherty will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
Lois is survived by her husband, Carrol; daughter, Caroline of Rock Hills, S.C.; and son, Larry (Dawn) and their children, Katherine and Sarah of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Mary Jane Ross, Dolores "Dee" McCoy and Genevieve Ricketts.
Lois was born May 10, 1927, in Chicago, the daughter of Gertrude (Kearins) Wilson and Lawrence A. Wilson. She graduated from Mount Mercy Academy and attended the University of Iowa. She married Carrol V. Voelkers on Sept. 29, 1956, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was employed by Ray Hertz Construction Co. as a bookkeeper for many years. In 1978, she and her husband started their business, Voelkers Office Products, from which she retired in 1992.
Lois was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Preceptor Lambda Chapter; a volunteer of 40 years for Theatre Cedar Rapids and also volunteered many years at All Saints School. Since retirement, she spent winters in Sun City West, Ariz.
