GERALDINE REPASS
Cedar Rapids
Geraldine "Gerri" Anne Repass passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at St Luke's Hospice Center surrounded by her family. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories
where friends may call after 12:30 p.m.
Gerri was born June 30, 1927, to Gerald and Marian McKeeby. She was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids where she attended Polk Elementary School and Franklin High School. On Oct. 2, 1948, she married Robert D. Repass. They were married for 52 years, until his passing in 2000. She also was the granddaughter of Dr. Byron McKeeby, who was famously known as the "man with the pitchfork" in Grant Wood's American Gothic painting.
For 25 years, she worked at Bjornson Inc. of Iowa, retiring as an executive vice president. She spent the majority of her career as a property & casualty underwriter, having underwritten insurance for 1,500 Iowa agents. She received her C.P.I.W. designation in 1973.
Gerri loved reading, playing cards and most importantly, being with her family. After retirement, she spent over 13 years volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital in the gift shop.
She is survived by her three children, Sue Harjehausen (Ed) of Greensboro, Ga., Jan Bear (Mike) of Marion and Robert Repass (Mark Stein) of Honolulu, Hawaii. She had four grandchildren, Heather Bear-Shelby, Emily Dobbins, Josh Bear and Jeremy Bear; and six great-grandchildren.
Gerri will be greatly missed by those who loved her, but her memories will last on forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Unity Point Hospice-St. Luke's Hospital, 2900 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402; or www.cedarrapids
