Robert Lee "Bob" Schmidt, 69, of Coralville, formerly of Forest City, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 123 E. Market St., Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cre-mation Service in Iowa City and one hour before the services at the church.

Bob was born Nov. 3, 1944, in Morris, Minn., to Roy and Margaret (McRoberts) Schmidt. He graduated from St. Peter High School, St. Peter, Minn., and Mankato State College, Mankato, Minn. Bob married Bette Ulrich on Dec. 17, 1966, in Mankato.
He worked in manufacturing management focused on purchasing for Green Giant, Kayot, Winnebago Industries, Iowa Mold and Tool, Lou Rich Manu-facturing, and retired from Kinze Manufacturing in 2011.
Bob was a member of St. Peter Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps in St. Peter, Minn., from 1958 to 1968. He also served a six-year term in the Minnesota Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972. Bob was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Iowa City.
He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He led a life centered around his family and his faith. Everyone who knew him loved him.
His family includes his wife, Bette; their nine children, Lisa (Richard) Simmons, Chanhassen, Minn., David (Beth), Jackson, Minn., Alan (Cheri), Cedar Rapids, Michael (Jenie), Des Moines, Jason (Melissa), St. Ansgar, Kari, Coralville, Corey (Kelli), Des Moines, Andrew, Coralville, and Darin (Leann), Williamsburg; 15 grandchildren; his uncle, James (Janice) McRoberts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; his twin sons, Richard and Ryan; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Care of Iowa City, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or Iowa City Hospice.
